If you click the link below to visit the designer’s Instagram profile, you will see a large number of test products. The designer also has a fantastic Etsy shop, and if you wish, you can check it out as well. The dog’s nose, like its eyes, is made using yarn.

Let’s look at the other details of the toy. First, the dog has two different types of ear designs. You can choose whichever ear type you prefer for your toy. Another detail is hidden in the dog’s paws. I especially liked how the bottoms of its paws are made with a pink color. Now, let’s take a closer look at the step-by-step details of how to make the toy.

Bow

Use accent color
Start with a long beginning tail.
In a MR: ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2, sl st, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2, sl st. Pull the MR tight to close. FO leaving a long tail (12-16 inches).

Wind your tail around the center of the bow a few times to cinch it. Use both yarn tails to tie a knot in the back of the bow. Leave long tails for sewing.

I suggest using amigurumi sticks or knitting needles to help with assembly.

Assembly

1. Sew Head to Body

Sew the head onto the body, making sure the nose is centered over the front legs. The back of the head should line up with the back of the body.

2. Sew Ears to Head

For a floppy look, sew the ears to the head between RNDS 8-12 of the head with approx 8 sts between them on the top of the head.

(Optional: Secure the ear to the head with 1- 2 sts a few RNDS down form where they are sewn on.) For standing ears, sew the ears between RNDS 11 & 12, approx 2-3 sts apart.

3. Optional: Sew Back Legs to Body.

If you did not crochet the back legs in place, sew them on vertically over RNDS 3-5 with approx 11-12 sts between them in the front. I like to secure the legs to the body with 1-2 sts a few sts in form where they are sewn on.

4. Optional: Sew Bow(s) to Head

Use both tails of your bow to sew the bow(s) to the head in front of one of the ears.

Tail

Use accent color
With your puppy upside down and the head facing away from you, insert your hook horizontally in the center of the body between RNDS 4 & 5, leaving a longer yarn tail. Sl st to secure.
Ch 6. Starting in the second ch from the hook: 2 sl st, 3 sc (5)
Insert your hook into the next st, sl st, and FO. Secure and hide tails.

Scarf

Worked in rows
R1: Ch 31*. Starting in the second ch from the hook, sc in each st across. (30)
*Add or remove chs as needed to make your scarf long enough to tie.
FO. You can weave in the ends or use them to secure the scarf to the puppy.

Face Details

Eyes

If you did not use safety eyes, you can embroider eyes with some black and white yarn. Embroider the eyes over RNDS 5-7 of the face with 6-8 sts between them. Weave in ends.

Eyebrows

Embroider small eyebrows, approx 2 sts wide, between rnds 7 & 8 of the head. There should be approx 6 sts between the eyebrows.

Nose

If you did not use a safety nose, embroider a nose between RNDS 1 & 2 of the face, approx 3 sts wide at the top.

Congrats! Your Puppy is ready!
