Plush Monkey with Banana Amigurumi Free Pattern

Although crochet monkey amigurumi toys are not very common, when I saw such a professional design, I wanted to share it with you immediately. We see that the plush monkey toy, which is a fairly new design, is holding a banana in its hand. The instructions for how to make the banana you see in the picture are in the last section of the pattern. The colors you will need to make the toy are brown, cream and yellow. It is recommended that you use a 5mm crochet hook to make the crochet toy.

Plush Monkey with Banana Crochet Free Pattern

Generally, 2 colors are used when making the toy and it is recommended that you use 14m safety eyes for the eyes of the toy. If you are ready, let’s start.

Materials:

–Brown, cream and yellow yarn (I used Premier Parfait Chunky)
–Strand of #4 weight brown yarn
–Hook (I used 5mm)
–Safety eyes (I used 14mm)
–Yarn needle
–Stuffing
–Stitch marker
–Scissors

Abbreviations:

ch= chain
sc= single crochet stitch
sl st= slip stitch
inc= increase (2 sc in one stitch)
dec= invisible decrease
R= round
FO= fasten off
St(s) = stitch(es)
Mr= magic ring

Notes:

– I use the yarn under/over technique, but you don’t need too
– I use the ch 2 method for the mr but feel free to use whatever method
– USA terms are used

Head

Round 1. Ch 2, 8 sc in first ch (8)
Round 2. 8 inc (16)
Round 3. (sc, inc) repeat 8 times (24)
Round 4. (2 sc, inc) repeat 8 times (32)
Round 5. (7 sc, inc) repeat 4 times (36)
Round 6-7. sc around (36)
Round 8. 14 sc, 3 sc, 3 sc, 3 sc, 13 sc (36)
Round 9. 13 sc, 5 sc, 1 sc, 5 sc, 12 sc (36)
Round 10-12. 12 sc, 13 sc, 11 sc (36)
Round 13. 15 sc, 8 sc, 13 sc (36)

Begin stuffing.
Insert the eyes between R10-11, 5-6 stitches apart.
Finish stuffing.

Nose

Take a long strand of #4 weight brown yarn and thread it on your yarn needle. Insert it at the bottom of the head and bring the yarn out to between the eyes.
Sew 3 horizontal sts that are 3 sts wide.
Then go down 2 rows and then put your needle up at the nose to create a vertical line. Bring your yarn needle to the bottom of the head and tie a knot to secure.

Short hair (make 2)

ch 4 and then starting from the second chain from the hook, sl st 3.
FO, leave long tail for sewing. Wait to make long hair before sewing onto the head

Long hair (make 1)

ch 5 and then starting from the second chain from the hook, sl st 4.
FO, leave long tail for sewing
Sew the long hair onto the centre of the mr on the top of the head. Sew the 2 smaller hairs onto either side of the long hair.

Ears (make 2)

Round 1. ch 2, 7 sc in second chain (7)
Round 2. 7 inc (14)
Round 3-4. Sc around (14)
Closing round: fold ear in half and sc 7 through both sides
FO, leave tail for sewing. Sew ears 2-3 st back from where the cream ends on either side of the head. Sew the ear at round 8-13.

Ear insert (make 2)

Round 1. ch 2, 8 sc in first chain

FO, leave tail for sewing. Sew to the inside of the ears.

Body

Round 1. ch 2, 8 in first chain (8)
Round 2. 8 inc (16)
Round 3. (1 sc, inc) repeat 8 times (24)
Round 4. (2 sc, inc) repeat 8 times (32)
Round 5-8. Sc around (32)
Round 9. (2 sc, dec) repeat 8 times (24)

Sew body to head. Finish stuffing with a few sts left to sew.

Arms (make 2)

Stuff.

Sew the arms to either side of the body, right under the head.

Legs (make 2)

Round 6-14. Sc around (12) Stuff.
Closing round: Fold in half and sc 6 through both sides
FO, leave a long tail for sewing.
Sew the legs on the magic circle so they are right next to eachother.

Tail

Round 1. ch 2, 5 sc in first chain (5)
Round 2-11. Sc around (5)
FO, leave long tail for sewing.
Do not stuff.
Sew the tail onto R4-5 of the body, centered with the legs.

Banana (optional)

With yellow yarn.
Round 1. Ch 2, 5 sc in first chain (5)
Round 2. Sc around (5)
Round 3. 5 inc (10)

FO, leave tail for sewing. Stuff. Close. Do not cut off yarn yet.
