Make a Shrek Detailed Amigurumi Doll Pattern (2)

A few months ago, I came across some free Shrek amigurumi patterns, but I didn’t want to share them because they had superficial instructions. Today, by a great coincidence, I found the Shrek amigurumi pattern you see in the photo. The construction of the amigurumi toy is very detailed, so of course, it caught my attention, and I wanted to share it with you. The designer of this adorable toy, ternura_amigurumi, has created a very detailed instruction list.

In this instruction list, photos of how to make the pieces of the toy will guide you while making it. The most striking feature of the toy is, of course, the incredibly realistic-looking ears. Brown, green, and white yarn are used in making Shrek. If you’re ready, let’s take a look at the instructions.

Designer: ternura_amigurumi

Materials

8/6 cotton yarn or medium-weight acrylic yarn: Green, Bone, Dark Brown, Light Brown, and White

BLO: back loop only
FLO: front loop only

Since the amigurumi toy is Shrek, we need to make a quite large head. However, while making the toy, we will crochet both the body and the head. We begin with the toy’s head. After doing the increases, we only crochet single crochet stitches between rounds 7 and 16. Then, by decreasing, we shape the head. At this stage, you will need to place the toy’s eyes. After round 21, we will start working on the body. During this stage, color transitions will begin, and thanks to these transitions, we will also be making Shrek’s t-shirt.

We actually create the toy’s t-shirt by coloring the body, but it needs to appear as a layer. In this stage, we will create the t-shirt’s layer on the body. We will use the FLO (front loop only) technique to do this. Let’s get started.

Shrek’s legs are made in two stages. As you can see, the toy is wearing boots, and after crocheting the legs, we need to make the boots as well. The legs are crocheted for 11 rounds. The boots will be made using dark brown yarn. Let’s get started.

Although the toy’s arms look very small, we will crochet them for 11 rounds. The main reason they look so small is that we are working with very fine materials. We will use green and bone-colored yarn for the arms. We start with green yarn.

Join the arms to the body with a wool needle.

Next, we move on to Shrek’s ears. You will need to pay a bit more attention when making the ears because you need to create a design similar to the one in the photos. To make the ears, which resemble the real character quite closely, you must follow all the instructions carefully.

1) Magic ring 6sc (6)
2 – 3) 6sc
4) (1sc, 1inc) repeat 3 times (9)
5) (2sc, 1inc) repeat 3 times (12)

Attach the ears to the head.

Embroider the eyes and nose as shown in the images.

Finally, we will make Shrek’s vest. We start with brown yarn and continue for 5 rounds. After completing the vest, you can dress the toy with it. You can tie the vest using a string. The photos will guide you through this process.

Vest

Place the vest on Shrek’s body. Make a bow at the top with dark brown wool.
