Plush Holiday Cat Free Crochet PDF Pattern (2)

Although the cat amigurumi toy has a Christmas scarf, I don’t think it’s a toy designed for Christmas, so you can change the colors of the scarf. My preference would be dark brown tones for the scarf color. The biggest detail that makes the toy so magnificent is the big eyes. Such big eyes greatly affect the facial expression of the toy, and we also see that the crochet cat has a black and big nose. As an unusual design, the cat’s lack of arms and legs made me a little sad.

However, in general, the toy has a perfect structure, especially decorative, and is a type of kitten that can be made by our beginner friends. You can make this toy, which stands out with its pointed ears and very large eyes, in different colors and in accordance with different concepts. Let’s take a look at the details.

The cat amigurumi toy looks quite decorative. Especially the lack of arms and legs instantly makes this toy beginner-friendly. This will definitely make our friends who are new to amigurumi happy. Now, let’s start with the body of the toy. After beginning with a magic ring, we continue with increases, and we place the toy’s eyes between rounds 5 and 6. Then, we follow the instructions for the appropriate increase and decrease steps. One important detail to remember is that we will make the body and head of the toy in one go, and we start by crocheting the head. Don’t let this part confuse you. Let’s begin!

Head & Body

R1: 6 Sc in Mr (6)
R2: Inc x 6 (12)
R3: (1 Sc, Inc) repeat 6 times (18)
R4: (2 Sc, Inc) repeat 6 times (24)
R5-8: Sc around (24) (4 rounds)

*Insert safety eyes between rounds 5 & 6, about 4 stitches apart*
R9: (2 Sc, Dec) repeat 6 times (18)
R10: (1 Sc, Dec) repeat 6 times (12)
*Start Stuffing the head*
R11: Sc around (12)
R12: (1 Sc, Inc) repeat 6 times (18)
R13: (2 Sc, Inc) repeat 6 times (24)
R14: (3 Sc, Inc) repeat 6 times (30)
R15-18: Sc around (30) (4 rounds)
R19: (3 Sc, Dec) repeat 6 times (24)
R20: (2 Sc, Dec) repeat 6 times (18)
*Start stuffing the body*
R21: (1 Sc, Dec) repeat 6 times (12)
R22: Dec 6 (6)
*Fasten off and weave tail*
*Note: You don’t necessarily have to use 25 mm eyes, if you don’t have them*

Now we’ll make a classic crochet cat ear. What we need is a magic ring. After the magic ring, we increase to shape the ears and prepare them to be sewn onto the head of the toy. If you’d like, you can sew the ears onto the head at this stage.

Ears (2)

R1: 4 Sc in Mr (4)
R2: Sc around (4)
R3: Inc × 4 (8)
R4: Sc around (8)
*Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing. Stuff the ears lightly and placed the ears around rounds 1-4*

Next is a simple tail design. After making a magic ring, we crochet single crochets for 8 rounds to form the toy’s tail. Afterwards, you can sew it onto the body of the toy in the area shown in the photo.

Tail

R1: 6 Sc in Mr (6)
R2-8: Sc around (6) (7 rounds)
*Fasten off and leave tail for sewing. Stuff the tail, sew the tail on rounds 17-19*

Now it’s time for our toy’s cute Christmas scarf. At first glance, you might think the colors are a bit mixed, but I believe a multicolored yarn with three tones was used here. If you prefer, you can make the scarf in a single color. After crocheting this final piece, we can move on to the finishing touches.

Scarf

Ch 47
Dc in the 3rd chain from your hook, and dc all the way towards the end.
Fasten off and make a knot and weave the ends.

Face Details

For the face details, I use a small piece of black yarn and threaded it back and forth on the space between the eyes.
For the whiskers, I insert the yarn through rounds 7 and 8. The first whisker I went over 2 stitches over and the second one 1 stitch over.
*Alternative: You can use felt for the nose or the safety eyes that come in a nose shape*

Congratulations! You have finished you holiday Kitty.
