Crochet Winnie the Pooh for Beginners Step by Step (3)

I think one of the biggest factors in children’s love for teddy bears is the character Winnie the Pooh. This cartoon character, which was very popular especially in the 80s and 90s, started to gain its former popularity with the spread of amigurumi toys. You must have seen that there are quite a few designs of teddy bear amigurumi toys. The design I will share today is both quite new and is made using basic crochet techniques.

Winnie the Pooh for Beginners Amigurumi Pattern

I would like to share a test product of the toy to give you an idea. The photo you see above is the original product, the photo below is a test product. It is quite natural for test products to be different from the original toy because people who make the toy usually add something from themselves to the toy or make small changes. You can also personalize Winnie the Pooh while making the toy.

As for the materials used, the designer recommends making this toy with 3.5 mm crochet and plush yarn. After completing the toy, you can paint its cheeks and the inside of the ears if you wish. This will make the toy look cuter. Now if you are ready, let’s take a look at the details of the amigurumi pattern. If you want to crochet the bear later, you can download the pattern by clicking the pdf button at the bottom of the pattern.

Crochet Winnie the Pooh for Beginners Step by Step (2)

First, we will start with the bear’s head. The head, which we will create by crocheting for 17 rounds, contains the most decisive points of the toy. To put it more clearly, after making the head of the toy, you will be able to change the facial expression of the toy by tightening it. Learning this design style will be very useful for you when making other toys.

HEAD

Crochet with yellow. Stuff as you go.

TIGHTENING AND FACE SCULPTING

Follow the numbers from the pictures (see picture ). Tighten each end of the thread well and then tighten both ends at once.
Embroider mouth, eyelids and eyebrows (see picture)

Now let’s make the bear’s ears. We start the ears, which we will make by crocheting for 3 rounds, with a magic ring. After making 1 round of increases and then 1 round of tight stitches, the ears are ready. You don’t need to stuff the ears. You can sew them to the bear’s head when you are done.

EARS (make two)

Crochet with yellow. Do not stuff.
Rnd 1. 5 sc in MR (5)
Rnd 2. 5 inc (10)
Rnd 3. 10 sc (10)
Fold the ear and crochet 5 sc through both sides.
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing the ears to the head.
Sew the ears on round 2, 5 stitches apart on top of the head.

You can see that the arm and leg designs of the bear are separated by looking at the photos. First, we start making the arms of the toy with a magic ring. After working with crochet for 7 rounds, we will switch to red. In this way, the appearance of the T-shirt that our toy is wearing will be created.

ARMS (make two)

Start with yellow. Stuff lightly as you go until round 5.
Rnd 1. 6 sc in MR (6)
Rnd 2. 6 inc (12)
Rnd 3. 12 sc (12)
Rnd 4. (1 sc, dec ) repeat 4 times (8)
Rnds 5-7. 8 sc (3 Rnds) (8)
Change the color to red.
Rnds 8-9. 8 sc (2 Rnds) (8)
Fold the arm and crochet 4 sc through both sides.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Although the bear’s legs seem to have a standard design, it is clearly seen that its feet are quite chubby. While working the legs with crochet, after making increases for the first 3 rounds, we will gradually decrease after the 6th round. Then, we will complete the process by making 3 rounds of single crochet.

LEGS (make two)

Crochet with yellow. Stuff as you go until round 9.
Rnd 1. 6 sc in MR (6)
Rnd 2. 6 inc (12)
Rnd 3. (1 sc, inc) repeat 6 times (18)
Rnds 4-6. 18 sc (3 Rnds ) (18)
Rnd 7. 3 sc, 6 dec, 3 sc (12)
Rnd 8. 4 sc, 2 dec, 4 sc (10)
Rnds 9-12. 10 sc (4 Rnds) (10)
Fold the leg and crochet 5 sc through both sides.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Our last piece is the body of the bear. The bear has a very chubby and big-bellied appearance. In order to create this appearance, we will make increases for 6 rounds. In the 8th round, we will sew the legs of the toy to the body. Then, we start the fraying process. After the 12th round, we will switch to red and in the 16th round, we will sew the arms of the toy.
