Chibi Bunnies Crochet Pattern Step by Step (2)

Today, we will make a beginner-level bunny amigurumi toy. The crochet bunny is referred to as a chibi. First of all, I want to mention that there are two versions of the bunny. If you wish, you can make the toy in a speckled form. To do this, you need to crochet in accordance with the color transitions in the amigurumi pattern. If you want to use a single color, it’s enough to complete the steps using one color of yarn.

Chibi Bunnies Amigurumi PDF Pattern for Beginners

The arms and legs of this cute bunny, which you can make in a few hours, aren’t very noticeable, but we make them using the bobble stitch technique. If you’ve noticed, recently there’s been an increase in the number of toys made using this technique because it makes your work much easier.

All the crocheted bunnies you see in the photo are test products. To see more photos, it’s enough to visit the designer’s profile. Honestly, the presence of test products for an amigurumi toy is very satisfying for me and increases my trust in the pattern. Let’s take a look at the details.

Chibi Bunnies Crochet Pattern Step by Step (3)

First, we will crochet the bunny’s body and head. If you’re going to make the toy using a single color, there is no need for color transitions, but if you’re using two colors, you need to follow the color changes shown in the chart below. The design is actually quite standard, but in the 12th round, you’ll need to form the toy’s legs. You’ve probably noticed that one of the bunny’s legs is made with brown yarn.

Head/Body

(Brown Yarn)
R1: 6 sc into mr (6)
R2: 3 inc, 3inc (12)
R3: (sc, inc) repeat 3 times, (sc, inc) repeat 3 times (18)
R4: 2sc, inc, (2sc, inc) repeat 2 times, (2sc, inc) repeat 3 times (24)
R5: 2sc, sc, inc, 3sc, inc, 3sc, inc, (3sc, inc) repeat 3 times (30)
R6: 2sc, 11sc, 17sc (30)
R7: sc, 14sc, 15sc (30)
R8: 17sc, 12sc, sc (30)
R9-10: 30sc (30)
(Add Safety Eyes at round 5, about 6 inches apart.)

R11: (3sc, dec) (24)
(Start Stuffing and continue to as you go.)
R12: 2sc, BO, 2sc, dec, BO, 2sc, dec, BO, 2sc, dec, 2sc, BO, dec (18)
R13: (sc, dec) (12)
R14: 6 dec (6)

You can make the bunny’s ears using white yarn, or you can create them with an asymmetric color distribution. For this, it’s enough to make a color change at a round that works for you.

Floppy Ears

(Brown yarn)
R1:4 sc into mr (4)
R2: 4 inc (8)
R3: (sc, inc) repeat 4 times (12)
R4-8: (5 Rows) 12sc (12)
R9: (sc, dec) repeat 4 times (8)
R10: 8sc (8)
(sc along the edge and FO leaving a tail.)
(Make the second one fully brown)

Lastly, we will crochet the bunny’s tiny tail and assemble the pieces. We will crochet the tail in 4 rounds and need to stuff it.

Tail

Make a brown tail if you’re making the brown pattern.
R1:4 sc into mr (4)
R2: 4 inc (8)
R3: 8sc (8)
R4: 4 dec (4)
Stuff the tail and fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing at rounds 8-9.

Sewing

The ears can be sewn between rounds 3 and 4.
You can add blush under the eyes about 2 stitches wide.
Add the mouth/nose on rounds 6 and 7, it should be about 2 stitches wide and 2 stitches long.
