Amigurumi Plush Owl with Red Bow Tie for Beginners (2)

Today I will introduce you to a very new owl amigurumi pattern. To make the toy designed by chancecrochett, you need to use the Himalaya Dolphin Baby brand yarn. You can also use a different brand of yarn, but such brands are now among the brands identified with amigurumi toys. Therefore, you can use brands such as YarnArt and Himalaya without hesitation. The most important detail in this amigurumi is that the color and yarn codes are given. This will make your job much easier.

As for the making of the toy, it is formed by the coming together of 7 pieces. We can easily say that today’s crochet owl is at the beginner level compared to an owl amigurumi toy. Let’s get started.

Starting with the body, the soft texture of the yarn gradually shapes the owl’s little body. The color transitions create a round form that enhances the owl’s cuteness. Then, we move on to the head, which becomes more defined with each round. Once we stuff it with fiberfill, the sweet round shape of the head takes form, making the toy even more defined.

Using cream yarn, we crochet the owl’s eye rings. It’s a small task, but when placed correctly, it adds depth to the owl’s expression. We sew the eye rings right in the middle of the head, at the eye level. This little detail is crucial in giving the owl its character.

EYE RING: MAKE 2

Use Cream yarn:
• Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
• Round 2: 6 inc (12)
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Sew the eye rings onto the head between Rounds 12 and 15.

Crocheting the ears is quite simple, but these small pieces really give the owl personality. We crochet little triangles with light brown yarn. After lightly stuffing them with fiberfill, we sew the ears just in front of the eyes, a few rounds above the head. These tiny ears are one of the details that complete the owl’s cuteness.

EARS: MAKE 2

Use Light Brown yarn:
• Round 1:3 sc in MR (3)
• Round 2: 3 inc (6)
Fill with fiberfill.
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Sew the ears 5 rounds above (in front of) the eyes.

The beak, crocheted with orange yarn, adds a cute expression to the owl’s face. It’s a tiny detail, but when sewn in the middle between the eyes, it completes the toy’s features. Made up of just a few stitches, its placement brings out the owl’s character.

BEAK

Use Orange yarn:
• Row 1: Make Chain 2.
• Rows 2-3: 2 sc in each row (2)
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Sew the beak centered between the eyes.

The wings help define the owl’s form even more. Crocheted with dark brown yarn, these simple yet meaningful wings add a sense of movement to the toy. When placed on the sides of the body, slightly downward, they give the owl a more balanced and natural appearance.

WINGS: MAKE 2

Use Dark Brown yarn:
• Row 1: Ch 2
• Row 2: Starting in the 2nd chain from the hook: make 6 sc, ch 1, turn.
• Row 3: (sc, inc) repeat 3 times (9)
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Sew the wings to the sides of the body.

The legs are small but important pieces that provide balance to the owl. We crochet small round pieces with orange yarn and sew them to the bottom of the body, slightly forward. Leaving a little space between the legs when sewing them helps the toy sit naturally and securely.

LEGS: MAKE 2

Use Orange yarn:
• Round 1:3 sc in MR (3)
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Sew the legs between Rounds 1 and 3 of the body, leaving 2 stitches of space between them.

Finally, we add a sweet touch to the owl’s neck with a little orange bow crocheted with cotton yarn. This bow completes the owl’s cuteness and gives it a more cheerful and warm look. Though it’s a small accessory, it immediately changes the owl’s overall appearance and adds extra character.

BOW

Use Orange Cotton yarn:
In a magic ring: Ch 3, 4 dc, ch 2, sl st into the ring, Ch 3, 4 dc, ch 2, sl st into the ring.
Pull the magic ring tight to form the bow shape.
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Sew the bow to the center of the neck.

Congratulations! You just finished your owl toy!
