Welcome to my blog, especially to those who are beginners and making their very first amigurumi toy. Today, I’d like to introduce you to a super cute chick amigurumi pattern designed by crochets_byliza. While the toy is beginner-friendly overall, once it’s finished, it won’t look like a beginner project at all. The design looks quite impressive, and thanks to its plush texture, you’ll feel the softness and a true sense of accomplishment when you hold it in your hands.
Beginner Level Easter Chick Amigurumi PDF Pattern
The chick amigurumi is made up of four main parts. First, you’ll crochet the body and the head. Then you’ll move on to the wings, and finally, the legs. Probably the easiest parts to make are the legs and the cute pink scarf. So without further ado, let’s dive into the details. We’ll start with the materials list.
Designer: crochets_byliza

Skills and Abbreviations
magic ring, single crochet (sc),

invisible decrease stitch (dec),
half-double crochet (hdc),
slip stitch (sl st)
First, we will crochet the chick’s tiny beak. This part is very simple. You only need to crochet for two rounds and shape it as shown in the photo. Once it is ready, set it aside and move on to the next piece.
BEAK
Make it in orange yarn.
Rnd 1: 4 sc in a magic ring (4)
Rnd 2: inc in all 4 (8)
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Fold it in half and sew the hole with the yarn tail.
Now we are going to crochet the head and body of the chick. We begin from the top of the head. At this stage, you should sew the beak onto the face. If you are using safety eyes, now is the right time to place them. In round eight, something interesting happens. You will create the chubby cheek effect by shaping the sides of the face. This is probably the most detailed part of the process. After that, continue shaping the body using increases and decreases.
HEAD AND BODY
start in yellow yarn.
Rnd 1: start 8 sc in a magic ring (8)
Rnd 2: inc in all 8 (16)
Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) repeat 8 times (24)
Rnd 4: (3 sc, inc) repeat 6 times (30)
Rnd 5-7: sc in all 30 (30) (3 rounds)
Rnd 8: 7 sc, inc, 2 hdc in one stitch, inc, 10 sc, inc, 2 hdc in one stitch, inc, 7 sc (36) (cheeks)
Rnd 9: sc in all 36 (36)
Rnd 10: (2 sc, dec, 2 sc) repeat 6 times (30)
Rnd 11: (3 sc, dec) repeat 6 times (24)
Rnd 12: (1 sc, dec, 1 sc) repeat 6 times (18)
Sew the beak to the round between the cheeks. Insert safety between rounds 7 and 8, eyes about 2 visible stitches away from the beak.
Stuff the head with fiberfill.
Start stuffing the body as you go.
Rnd 13: (sc, inc) repeat 9 times (27)
Rnd 14: (4 sc, inc, 4 sc) repeat 3 times (30)
Rnd 15-16: sc in all 30 (30)
Rnd 17: (2 sc, inc, 2 sc) repeat 6 times (36)
Rnd 18: sc in all 36 (36)
Rnd 19: (8 sc, dec, 8 sc) repeat 2 times (34)
Rnd 20: (15 sc, dec) repeat 2 times (32)
Rnd 21: (2 sc, dec) repeat 8 times (24)
Rnd 22: (1 sc, dec) repeat 8 times (16)
Rnd 23: dec in all 8 (8)
Add more stuffing to the body if needed. Do not overstuff the bottom, it should be flat. Fasten off, leaving a tail. Using a needle, weave the tail yarn through the front loop of each remaining stitch and pull tight to close. Weave in the yarn end.
The chick’s legs may not stand out too much, but they are very simple to make. The designer has made this part easy with a few basic crochet steps. You can finish this part very quickly.
LEGS
Embroider the legs with orange yarn at the bottom front of the body (see pictures for reference).
Similar to the legs, the hair is made with yellow yarn and a few simple stitches. Once done, your chick will have a cute and simple hairstyle.
HAIR
Cut 2 small pieces of yarn. Pull them through the stitches on the top of the head to create 4 strands of hair (see pictures for reference). Trim them to your desired length.
Next, we will make the chick’s wings. Start with two rounds of increases. Then crochet two rounds of single crochet stitches. After that, make one more round with increases. When the wings are ready, you can sew them onto the body.
WINGS
Make 2 wings in yellow color yarn.
Rnd 1: 4 sc in a magic ring (4)
Rnd 2: inc in all 4 (8)
Rnd 3-5: sc in all 8 (8) (3 rounds)
Rnd 6: (3 sc, inc) repeat 2 times (10)
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Flippers do not need stuffing. Fold the wing in half and sew the hole closed. Sew wings to both sides of the body on rounds 13-14, slightly diagonally (see pictures for reference).
Finally, let’s make the chick’s adorable pink scarf. This shade of pink looks lovely and matches the chick perfectly. Once the scarf is finished, your toy will be complete.
SCARF
Chain 50 in pink yarn. Turn the chain and sl st in the second chain from the end. This will be your first. stitch of the round.
Rnd 1: 49 sl st (49)
Weave in the yarn ends.
If you don’t want to crochet a scarf, you can simply cut a piece of pink yarn and tie a little bow around the neck.
Congratulations, your chick plushie is finished!
